With Draw 12 of the Temiskaming Hospital Foundation’s 50/50 series wrapping up on Thursday, December 16, 2021, the Temiskaming Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the approval of an additional 12 draws by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario with the first draw being launched on December 20, 2021 at 12:01 am. With the planning of larger events still on hold due to COVID-19, the foundation looks forward to using the online 50/50 draws as a main source of funding for equipment purchases for Temiskaming Hospital.
The Temiskaming Hospital Foundation launched its first draw on December 15, 2020. To date, the 50/50 initiative has seen over $735,580 in ticket sales with over $375,000 distributed as cash and prizes and $367,790 being raised for the Care Close to Home campaign. With the current Care Close to Home fundraising campaign ending March 31, 2022, the foundation is optimistic that the first three draws in the New Year will move them substantially closer to their $6.5M goal. After the campaign ends, the board will use the 50/50 fundraiser to help create a new pool of money to be put towards the foundation’s next campaign which is still being developed.
“With the hopes that in-person fundraisers and events are on the horizon, holding a second series of 50/50 draws was an easy decision, especially with the astounding success we have realized, due in large part to the tremendous support from the community,” said Temiskaming Hospital Foundation President Jim Rowe. He continued, “Even if and when restrictions are eased in the coming year, having the 50/50 initiative as a supplemental fundraiser equates to additional funds raised for ongoing equipment purchases at Temiskaming Hospital.”
The new series will operate under license RAF1226592. Draw 1 of the new series will launch on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 12:01 am. Tickets will be available at www.thf5050.com. In honour of the New Year, a $2,022 early bird draw will take place on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Ticket deadline is January 4, 2022 at 9:00 am with the early bird prize being drawn at 10:00 am. Draw 1’s grand prize draw will close Monday, January 17, 2022 at 11:59 pm and be drawn on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 10:00 am.
“Whether you choose to donate to the foundation by participating in our 50/50 draw or through the various fundraisers held throughout the year, it all goes towards keeping care close to home in Temiskaming Shores.” Rowe continued, “Although the current campaign is wrapping up soon, the need for funding never stops, so we are excited to launch the new campaign in the New Year. We are so grateful for the support we’ve received in not only the last 6 years of the campaign, but since the start of the foundation in 2006.”
The Temiskaming Hospital Foundation’s mission is to raise funds and manage donor gifts for the purpose of supporting outstanding clinical care for the communities served by Temiskaming Hospital.
